On the election of Bong Bong Marcos
I voted for Leni Robredo and proudly so. Isko Moreno, who would have been a promising future presidential bet who ran too prematurely) and all the other presidential candidates should have united and supported Leni Robredo if they earnestly wanted to prevent a suspected corrupt Junior (like-father-like-son), Bong Bong Marcos, from getting into Malacanang. But ambition, selfishness, and greed overpowered their love of country and decency. They obviously did not have the welfare of the nation and the Filipinos on their bucket list.
Having said that, much to my sadness and regret, the people have spoken (or misspoken, if they, in fact, really did), or as being suspected, Marcos won because of massive cheating via rigged voting machines (a high probability), but as peace-loving people, we should, even with a heavy heart, faith in God, and great hope for the future, be pragmatic and realistic. If there is a legal way to correct the results of the elections, I am 100 percent for it.
Accepting the worst, if he is officially proclaimed as the duly elected president, I pray and hope that Bong Bong Marcos would have the morality and decency to admit and disavow the corruption and graft his father did, ask for the nation’s forgiveness for them, return the billions the Marcoses have stolen from the country, and vow not to re-write history. On top of these, for Bong Bong to earnestly fight graft and corruption by sending even his fellow politicians who are criminals to jail, and proving to the world he is, after all, not his father’s son. Yes, a tall order and unrealistic expectations, but this is the only way for him to be truly presidential and accepted, and miraculously, perhaps even be forgiven and become a great president.
For the sake of our beloved Pilipinas and our fellow Filipinos, especially those languishing in the gutter of poverty, this is my prayer.
